Box Score SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The Westminster College men's soccer team concluded the regular season with a 3-0 loss at Cal State San Marcos on Saturday afternoon.
With the loss, Westminster completes the season at 10-6-2 overall. This is the 10th season in school history that the team has reached 10 wins in a single campaign. CSUSM used the win to get to 5-6-3 overall this season.
San Marcos would get on the board in the 28th minute in the first goal of the season from Warren Ashcroft. Scott Rice flicked a ball to Alex Brusnell who used his head to set up the shot by Ashcroft for the goal.
Rice would push the advantage to two goals when he took a cross from Ashcroft and headed the ball into the Griffin net in the 31st minute. Rice would then cap the scoring in the 75th minute finished a shot after Thor English and Eric Lopez set him up with a cross and a one-touch pass.
Westminster took just five shots in the game and had two of them on goal. CSUSM finished with 13 shots and five on goal. No Griffins had more than one attempt with
Ryan Smith and
Ryan Holmes putting their shots on frame.
Damir Sabanovic had four saves in goal and took the loss.
