Box Score GREAT FALLS, Mont. – Behind the strength of a late run the Westminster College men's basketball team came away with a 73-66 win over the University of Great Falls on Friday night in Frontier Conference action.
Westminster (15-7, 3-3 Frontier) trailed 58-54 with 11:42 remaining in the game when Marcel Townes made a three for UGF. The Griffins got defensive after that and held the home standing Argos (14-7, 2-4) to just five points for the remainder of the game.

Jordan Hayter came away with two free throws to put Westminster on top 59-58 with 5:09 to play and they wouldn't trail again.
The run would grow to nine unanswered after baskets from
Alex Drecksel and Hayter pushed the advantage to 63-58 at the 3:20 mark. After another Townes bucket cut the deficit to three with 2:51 remaining, Westminster posted a 7-3 run to close the game that featured a 3-point play from Drecksel and the team going 4-for-4 at the foul line in the final minute.
Westminster shot 46% from the floor in the game while going 7-of-14 from beyond the arc. They grabbed 31 rebounds to just 25 by UGF and posted 14 assists on 23 made baskets. The defense forced 12 turnovers which they turned into 10 points while also scoring eight points from seven offensive rebounds.
Hayter led the Griffins with 16 points on a 5-of-10 shooting night. He connected twice from deep and was a perfect 4-of-4 at the foul line. Drecksel added 15 points off the bench while making six of his nine field goal attempts. Orchard finished with 13 and
Ben Walker had 13 points and 12 rebounds for his first double-double of the year.
Leon Sutton led UGF with 18 points behind four triples. Townes added 14 points for the Argos. The team shot 50% from the field and forced 14 Griffin turnovers.
Westminster will now travel north for a Saturday game against No. 13 Montana State-Northern in Havre, Mont. The Griffins will look to make up one of the two games they trail the first-place Lights by when they tipoff at 8 p.m.
