NAMPA, Idaho – The Westminster College men's ad women's cross country teams began the 2011 season at the Roger Curran Invitational this afternoon. Both teams placed fourth in fields of five teams.
The men were paced by
Oliver Lange. The sophomore from Pleasanton, Calif. finished 24th overall in the field of 80.
“This was a typical first race of the season,” head coach Craig Binkley commented. “We had to leave a few of our top guys behind but, I was happy with the response.”
Monique Alvisais-Anhalt led the Griffin women with a 24th place finish in a field of 75. The Plattsburgh, N.Y. native was competing in her first career collegiate race.
“It was a solid performance by the women,” Binkley stated. “Our main pack was solid but, I think we can get better and faster.”
Westminster will next be in action on Sept. 24 when they compete at the Bob Firman Invite.
