Westminster Cross Country turned in a strong showing at the SF State Invitational on Friday, highlighted by several personal records and promising results ahead of the RMAC Championships later this month.
The men's team placed 11th out of 14, led by Liam Thompson in 26:45.8, tying for seventh all-time in program history. Elliot Vargas (27:33.4), Jacob Formander (27:37.8), James Stock (28:35.4), Diego Escalante (28:51.9), and Walker Hall (30:45.5) rounded out the lineup, with multiple season-best efforts across the 8k course.
On the women's side, the Griffins finished 8th out of 13 teams. Ashley Cottino led the way in 23:12.2, marking the 8th-fastest 6k time in program history, followed closely by Eileen Oconnor (23:18.3), now 10th all-time. Angela Martin Rubin (24:19.1), Haven Finley (24:39.5), Sonya Brunner (24:45.3), and Kira Tree (28:37.4) completed the team's scoring effort, with several athletes racing the 6k distance for the first time.
The Griffins return to competition at the RMAC Championships on October 25.
