Griffins Advance to Fifth RMLC Title Game with Victory

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – The 10th-ranked Westminster men's lacrosse team advanced to the RMLC Championship Game for the fifth time in as many years with an 18-7 win over Colorado Mines on Friday afternoon at the 2011 RMLC Tournament.

Westminster is now 11-7 overall this season and they are 7-2 with two titles all-time at the RMLC Tournament. Mines finishes the year at 11-4.

Gian Sexsmith led the Griffins with seven goals and two assists. Jake Arthur added three goals and an assist of his own. Dallas McLellan posted nine saves during his time in the Westminster cage. The team was successful of 24-of-27 clear attempts.

The Griffins will face Northern Colorado in the championship game on Saturday at 2 p.m. Westminster defeated UNC 11-6 in Salt Lake City on March 16. UNC made the title game after coming from behind to beat Utah Valley 8-7 and they are 8-5 on the season.
