SALT LAKE CITY – The Westminster men's soccer team has signed six players to a Frontier Conference letter of intent, head coach
Chris Dorich announced today. This is the first group of signees that will be announced by Dorich during the next few weeks.
Chris Cook will come to Westminster from Duluth, Georgia, where he prepped at Peachtree Ridge High School. The 5-foot-10 forward helped his team to the Georgia High School Playoffs in 2008, 2009, and 2011. He was selected an All-Region Forward as a senior and played in the Georgia Senior All-Star Game.
“I am excited to have the opportunity to play soccer for Westminster,” Cook commented. “I look forward to working with and getting to know my new teammates and coaches.”
Coach Dorich also announced the signing of Nick Carpenter, Thomas Fox, Justin Kwan, Pratik Raghu, and James Ward.
Carpenter comes to Westminster from Frenchtown, Mont. where he prepped at Loyola Sacred Heart High School. Fox is from Marlborough, N.H. where he went to Keene High School. Kwan is a transfer from Taylorsville, Utah, and went to Salt Lake Lutheran High School. He is a transfer from Salt Lake Community College. Raghu is a midfielder from Chennai, India and Ward comes from Albuquerque, N.M. where he went to Eldorado High School.
Westminster finished the 2010 season at 9-9-1 overall and advanced to the Independent Conference Tournament in Omaha, Neb. The Griffins advanced to the postseason for the 20th time in the 27 years in the history of the program.
