GREAT FALLS, Mont. – The Westminster men's and women's golf teams posted solid results at the second Frontier Conference event of the season. The Griffin men posted a fifth-place finish with a score of 940. The women's team finished second behind a score of 1,007.
The men shot 310-309-321 in the three rounds and finished 70 strokes behind the tournament winner Lewis-Clark State. The Griffins top three players all shot identical scores of 234 to finish in a tie for 23rd overall.
Collin Wilkinson had an opening round 76 that was followed with back-to-back 79's.
Matt Bushman went 79-74-81 while
Alex Howlett went 78-77-79 for his 234.
Bryce Till shot a 242 and
Brian Panter had 247 total strokes. Mat Hardy shot a 240playing as an individual for the Griffins.
The women's team finished 11 shots off the pace set by Rocky Mountain College in an attempt for consecutive tournament wins. Westminster trailed by 10 strokes after the first day with a score of 666, but shot 341 on Tuesday and couldn't make up any ground.
Mikayla Williamson shot a final round 91 to drop from the second round leader to a second-place finish with her score of 249.
Jenteal Jackson finished tied for third after shooting 84-83-83 for a total score of 250.
Candace Dechant matched Jackson's 250 behind a final round 83 with
Brandi Bork shooting a 258.
Keni Nelson had a 269 to complete the team field for the Griffins with
Katie Felt scoring a 288 as an individual.
The Frontier Conference season consists of three tournaments with two in the fall and one in the spring. The combined score during the three events will determine the seeding for the Frontier Conference Championships in April. The Westminster men currently sit in fourth position with a total score of 1,818. The Westminster women dropped to second after this event and have posted a score of 1,992.
