PROVO, Utah – The Westminster men's lacrosse team advanced to the RMLC Division II Championship game with a 17-6 victory over Montana State in the semi-final round of the 2010 Rocky Mountain Lacrosse Conference Championship Tournament held on Friday, April 30 at host site BYU.
After allowing Montana State to score the first goal of the game just four minutes into the game, Westminster scored five consecutive goals in a seven minute stretch and never looked back. Montana State would get back to 8-4 at halftime only to see the Griffins score seven straight to start the half and seal the victory.
Josh Condas led the Griffin attack with five goals for Westminster. He added one assist and three ground balls while taking 11 shots.
Hayden Dixon added three goals including the game winner.
Matt Balk and
Kellen Lynn had two goals apiece.
Dallas McLellan earned the win in goal with 13 saves.
The Griffins now face a familiar opponent in Utah Valley University at 1:30 pm, Saturday, May 1st at the North Fields on the BYU campus in Provo, Utah. Westminster defeated UVU 9-8 in overtime on March 13 at Dumke Field. The Griffins will be looking for a third RMLC championship in four seasons.
