Westminster Heads to California for Baggataway Tournament

The Westminster men's lacrosse team travels to San Rafael, California for two games at the Baggataway Tournament this weekend. The Griffins face Grand Canyon at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 17. They conclude the tournament against Dominican at 1 p.m. on Sunday, April 18. Both games will be hosted by Dominican University.

Westminster heads to the tournament at 9-3 on the season and riding a season-best four-game winning streak. They are 1-0 in RMLC action and are 3-1 on neutral field and 2-1 in road games. The Griffins sit No. 4 in the Prodigy Network/Collegelax.us Top 25 Coaches' Poll that was released on Wednesday. They are also No. 6 in the Adidas/MCLA The Lax Mag Top 23 and 10th in the Laxpower.com computer poll.

The Griffins are averaging 11.3 goals per game and scoring on 32.3% of their total shot attempts. Westminster attempts 34.8 shots per game and puts 69.1% of those on goal. They have gone 10-of-55 (18.2%) in man-up situations this season and won 51.8% of 284 total faceoffs. Defensively they allow 10 goals per game and have held the opposition to just 9-of-79 (11.4%) with a man advantage.

Against Grand Canyon

Westminster has gone 1-1 in two all-time meetings against Grand Canyon. Westminster won the first meeting 18-2 in Salt Lake City. They dropped a 17-9 decision on the road last season.

Against Dominican
The Griffins are a perfect 3-0 against the Penguins all-time. They have outscored Dominican 51-17 including a 20-8 win in Phoenix last season.

Looking Ahead
Westminster will complete the regular season with two RMLC games next weekend. They begin the trip on Saturday, April 24 in Durango, Colorado against Fort Lewis. The next day, Sunday, April 25, Westminster faces Northern Arizona in Flagstaff, Arizona.
