PORTLAND, Ore. – The Westminster men's lacrosse team picked up a third consecutive win with a 15-8 decision over No. 13 Southern Oregon on Sunday afternoon. No. 12 Westminster improves to 3-1 on the season with one game remaining on this current road swing.
Westminster scored the first five goals of the game, including two in a 1:06 stretch in the first quarter, and never looked back. Southern Oregon would get as close as 5-3 midway through the second quarter before the Griffins scored another five consecutive goals to put the game out of reach.
Westminster controlled the faceoff game all afternoon, winning 19-of-23 opportunities. They also collected 25 ground balls to just nine by the opponent. Shots were slightly even at 29-22 for Westminster, but 16 Griffin turnovers kept Southern Oregon in the contest. The Griffins also scored on 3-of-4 extra-man opportunities.
Jacob Wayman led the Griffin attack with three goals and three assists. He scored on each of his three shots and scored twice in the first 16 minutes of the game.
Josh Condas contributed five points himself with two goals and three assists.

Joe Illya made 10 saves between the pipes for his second win of the season.
Westminster completes this road swing on Tuesday, March 2 when they face No. 9 Western Oregon in Monmouth, Oregon. That game will begin at 1 p.m.
