WOMEN'S RESULTS
COSTA MESA, Calif. – The Westminster cross country teams completed the Vanguard Invitational on Saturday afternoon. The men's team finished 14th while the women's team recorded a 12th-place result. The men ran an 8K course while the women's race was on a 5K course.
The men were led by
Oliver Lange with a time of 28:05. Lange finished in 59th-place and was 20 seconds ahead of
David Sondrup in 65th position.
Jef Marsicola placed 80th with his time of 29:02 while
Tyler Gregg finished 83rd after running 29:12. The Griffins had 318 total points and averaged a time of 28:59 over the 8K course.
“The guys were too aggressive up front,” head coach Craig Binkley said. “I feel the guys cold have run a lot better.”
Katrina England paced the women's team with a 55th-place result behind her time of 20:29.
Ellie Layman finished 65th with her time of 20:50 and was followed in 80th position at 21:15.
Kara Peters was 81st after running 21:16. Westminster totaled 321 points and ran the 5K course in an average time of 21:19.
“I was fairly pleased with the women,” Binkley stated. “One through four ran a pretty good race and I was happy with that and that Katrina took a huge step up for her.”
Westminster will return to action on October 23 at the Warrior Invitational hosted by Lewis-Clark State College.
