This Week
The Westminster women's soccer team has two games at Dumke Field on the slate for this Labor Day Weekend. The Griffins will face Kansas Wesleyan on Sunday, September 6 at 10:00 a.m. They also face Great Falls on Monday, September 7 at 2:00 p.m. in a Frontier Conference game. Great Falls and Kansas Wesleyan will play each other on Saturday, September 5 at 10:00 a.m. on Dumke Field.
Westminster enters the game a 1-4 on the season after going 1-2 during last week's trip to Hawaii. The Griffins picked up a 4-1 win over Chaminade on Sunday to complete the trip. All five of the Griffin opponents so far have been from the NCAA ranks.
The Griffins have dominated at home during their two-year history. They have gone 10-4-1 at Dumke Field the past two seasons, outscoring the opposition 34-15 in those games. Westminster has also posted five shutouts in home contests. Great Falls has been outscored 7-0 by the Griffin sin their two trips to Salt Lake City.
Dumke Field
Spectators coming to the games at Dumke Field are asked to enter through the gate on the west side of the field. All entrances on the east side of the field are for players and officials only. Also, remember that pets are not allowed into the facility.
Live Stats
Live stats will be available for all games on Dumke Field beginning on Monday, September 7. They will not be available for game on Sunday this week, but will be running for the Great Falls game on Monday.

Scouting Kansas Wesleyan
Kansas Wesleyan will open the 2009 season this week. They face Bacone College before making the trip to Salt Lake City for games with Great Falls and the Griffins. Kansas Wesleyan finished 2008 at 14-6-1 and won the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference with a 9-0 record. They advanced to the opening round of the 2008 NAIA National Championships where they lost to McKendree 1-0. The Coyotes have 10 seniors on the 2009 squad, including goalkeeper Stephanie Cottam. Cottam played in nine games for the Coyotes in 2008.

Scouting Great Falls
Great Falls heads for Salt Lake City after dropping two games at home last weekend. They opened the season with a 2-1 loss against Saint Xavier. That was followed with a 5-2 loss to the College of Idaho. Carley Armstrong, Selina Longoria, Ashly Pezel all tallied a goal for the Argonauts last weekend. The Argos played Samantha Davies and D.J. Ellis between the pipes during the two games.

Killer B
Westminster sophomore
Brinna Bennion has been excellent for the Griffins in 2009. The 5-8 defender from Salt Lake City has played in all 450 minutes of game action this season on the Griffin back line. Bennion is currently the team leader in points with three, having one goal and one assist to her credit. She recorded her goal on the only shot she has attempted through the first five games.
Shot Attack
After recording just 35 shots through the first four games of the season, the Westminster offense exploded for a school record 47 against Chaminade. The previous record was 39 set against College of the Southwest in the first-ever game for the Griffins. Westminster also put 27 shots on goal against Chaminade to surpass the old record of 24 set in that first game. Westminster has put 56.1 percent of the shots on target through the first five games.
Nicole Taylor currently leads the team and the Frontier Conference with her 15 shot attempts.
Heather Hillam (14),
Megan Maldonado (13),
Vanessa Jordan (11), and
Sarah Swenson (10) all have recorded more than 10 shots through the first five games. Hillam leads the team and the conference with her 11 shots on goal. Hillam has put 78.6 percent of her shots on frame this season.
Between the Pipes
Westminster has been playing two goalkeepers consistently through the first five games. Sophomore
Dayna Winter-Nolte has made three starts while freshman
Lindsay Bekken has two starts, but has appeared in relief in two other games. Bekken has posted 10 saves and a save percentage of .714 during her 270 minutes. Winter-Nolte has four saves and a .444 save percentage in her 180 minutes. The two have a combined 1.80 goals against average and have seen 52 shots attempted by the opposition.
Unaffiliated Information
The Dakota Athletic Conference, Gulf Coast Athletic Conference, Midlands Collegiate Athletic Conference, and Frontier Conference will combine to offer one automatic bid to the NAIA National Championships in 2009. The top-4 teams in this group will advance to the Unaffiliated Conference Tournament with the winner receiving the automatic berth.
Next Week
Westminster is back on Dumke Field for two games on September 11 and 12. The Griffins face Embry-Riddle (Ariz.) on Friday, September 11 and then face College of Idaho on Saturday, September 12. Both games will begin at 11:30 a.m. from Dumke Field.
