SALT LAKE CITY – Westminster women's lacrosse coach Soni Bartlett has announced the schedule for the 2009 season. The inaugural season of women's lacrosse at Westminster will begin on Friday, March 6 when the Griffins host Wyoming on Dumke Field at 4:30 p.m. That is the first of five straight home games for the Griffins. Westminster will face Northern Colorado on Sunday, March 8 on Dumke Field. The final three home games are on March 13 against Brigham Young, March 20 against the University of Toronto, and March 22 they face Pepperdine.
Westminster will make two trips to Colorado for the remainder of the schedule. They will play four games in two days when they face Wyoming, Colorado State, Colorado School of Mines, and the University of Denver in Denver on April 4 and 5. The schedule concludes on April 10 and 11 with games in Colorado Springs against Wyoming, Air Force, and the University of Denver.
The 2009 team consists of 24 players from 10 different states. Three players prepped at Juan Diego High School in Draper, Utah and two more from Highland High School in Salt Lake City. Coach Bartlett takes the helm of the program after spending time as the head coach at Jordan High School in Sandy, Utah. Westminster will compete in the Rocky Mountain Women's Lacrosse League and were picked to finish fifth in the eight team league.
