Westminster Men’s Lacrosse Announces 2010 Schedule

2010 SCHEDULE

SALT LAKE CITY – The Westminster men's lacrosse team announced the schedule for the upcoming 2010 season today. Westminster has 16 games on the slate during the 2010 regular season, including five on Dumke Field. They will face three teams that competed in the 2009 MCLA D2 National Tournament and another that made the D1 National Tournament semi-finals.

“I am really thrilled with the schedule we have this season,” head coach Mason Goodhand said. “This is the first time in four years that every opponent will provide us with a challenge.”

The season begins on February 19 at the MCLA Vegas Full House Face Off against UC-Santa Cruz. The next game will be determined by the outcome of the Western Oregon versus Biola contest and be played on February 20. Should Westminster win the first two games of the event, they would play in the championship game, also on the 20th.

A road trip to Idaho and Washington comes next for Westminster. They face Boise State in Boise, Idaho on February 26 and Southern Oregon on February 28 in Portland, Oregon. The trip concludes on March 2 with a game against Western Oregon in Monmouth, Oregon.

Three consecutive in-state games come next, starting with a trip to Provo to battle Brigham Young on March 10. The annual game with Utah is on March 17. Utah Valley comes to Dumke Field on March 20 for the 2010 home opener and Rocky Mountain Lacrosse Conference opener for the Griffins.

The five-game home stand continues on March 27 against Montana State. Westminster plays Metro State and Gonzaga on Dumke Field on April 2 and 3 respectively. Utah State is the final home game of the season on April 10.

Westminster then heads to San Rafael, California, for the Baggataway Tournament. The Griffins will face Grand Canyon University on April 17 and the host squad Dominican on April 18. The regular season concludes with two RMLC games at Fort Lewis on April 24 and Northern Arizona on April 25.

The 2010 RMLC Tournament will be played in Provo on April 29 through May 1. The MCLA National Tournament returns to Denver, Colorado and Dick's Sporting Goods Park on May 11-15.

“Although we have a young team this year, this is the kind of schedule we need to help us get better every game,” Goodhand commented.
