SALT LAKE CITY - It took 82 minutes for the Westminster Griffins to find the net on Sunday afternoon, but it was all they needed. Nicolas Duncan took a through ball from Ryan Smith on a breakaway and buried it past the keeper to give the Griffins a 1-0 lead. The stingy defense held strong for the final eight minutes and the squad improved to 2-0 on the season.

The Griffins outshot St. Thomas 16-9 on the afternoon, but only got five of those shots on frame. Westminster goal keeper Valan Campbell recorded three saves to help the team to its second consecutive shutout.

Westminster returns to the pitch when they host Whitman at 5:00 p.m. on August 29 at Dumke Field.
