Tournament Breakdown
Round 1 — Canceled
Round 1 of the SMU Bishop Invitational was canceled due to unplayable course conditions at The Home Course in DuPont, Washington, compressing the tournament into a 36-hole, two-round event and putting a premium on quick starts once play began.
Round 2
When the Griffins finally teed off, they did so in style. Wyatt Toney set the tone with a 1-under 71 — the low round in Westminster's lineup and a top-10 individual score on the day. Hayden Howell and Krew Labrum backed him up with matching 2-over 74s, while Nic Jensen rounded out the counting total with a 75. The 6-over 294 team score put Westminster squarely in the mix as the field readied for a fast-paced finish.
Final Round
With only one round left to make a move, Westminster delivered its best team performance of the young season. The Griffins caught fire, carding a 6-under 282 — a 12-shot swing from their Round 2 total. Jensen and Jake DeBry each turned in matching 2-under 70s to lead the charge, while Howell and Labrum stayed steady with 1-under 71s apiece. It was a complete team effort, with all four counting scores finishing under par.
The turnaround was enough to vault Westminster to third place in the final standings. Across the two rounds played, the Griffins finished at even par (576), trailing only tournament champion CSU San Marcos (-8) and runner-up Colorado Christian (-1) — and edging out Western Washington (+2) by two shots for the final podium spot in a 15-team field.
The result continues a strong start to the Griffins' fall season, and it came with some individual hardware to match: Westminster's team finished the tournament leading the entire field outright in par-5 scoring and tied for the tournament lead in total birdies — a sign of an offense that stayed aggressive even after losing a full round to weather.
