La Jolla, CA - The Westminster Griffins delivered another strong weekend of competition at the Triton Invitational hosted by UC San Diego in La Jolla, highlighted by multiple school-record performances under legal conditions. Zac LeVin led the way on the men's side, breaking the program record in the 200 meters with a wind-legal 22.24, while Johanna Mapson set a new school record in the women's 100 meters with a time of 12.74. Ashley Cottino added to the historic day by breaking the school record in the 3000-meter steeplechase, continuing the Griffins' trend of record-setting performances early in the outdoor season.

Momentum carried into the middle-distance and sprint groups, where multiple athletes recorded significant personal bests. Colin Morgan delivered a standout performance in the 800 meters, running 1:57.81 for a major personal record. On the sprint side, Dario Garcia Sanchez (49.68) and Sebastian Moon (50.42) both posted personal bests in the 400 meters, continuing to build consistency and depth for the Griffins. The 4x100-meter relay team of Garcia Sanchez, LeVin, Orion Patten, and Jeremy Alba also competed well, recording a time of 42.37 against strong competition.

On the women's side, the Griffins continued to show depth across distance, hurdles, and field events. Eileen O'Connor (2:17.32) and Angela Martin Rubin (2:18.40) led the way in the 800 meters, with O'Connor also adding a 4:49.97 performance in the 1500 meters. In addition to her record-breaking performance, Cottino led a strong steeplechase group alongside Haven Finley (12:44.07), while Sonya Brunner added a solid effort in the 5000 meters (19:45.93). Kanoe Haneberg remained consistent with marks in both the 100-meter hurdles (15.93) and high jump (1.63m), while Teyvia Sidberry contributed in the hurdles (16.68) and triple jump (9.73m). The Griffins will look to build on this momentum as they return to competition this weekend at the Weber State/Utah meet.
