Westminster's women's lacrosse team remained unbeaten in conference play with a dominant 20-8 road victory over Fort Lewis on Friday in Durango, Colo., improving to 6-2 overall and 4-0 in the RMAC.
Game Breakdown
First Half
Fort Lewis jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the opening quarter on goals from Piper Price, Brooke De Haan, and Diamond Velasco. Westminster answered with six unanswered goals to close the quarter ahead 6-3, getting two each from Jordan Williamson and Olivia Petrosky, and one apiece from Shaina Shoughro and Holly Shoughro. The Griffins kept pace in the second quarter, outscoring the Skyhawks 4-2 — with Williamson netting three and Petrosky adding one — to take a 10-5 lead into halftime.
Second Half
Westminster continued to pull away in the third quarter, opening with back-to-back goals from Holly Shoughro before adding four more from Williamson, Petrosky, Madi Rogers, and Marianna Dick to lead 16-7. The Griffins capped the performance with four goals in the fourth quarter, including a final-second score from Williamson, to seal the 20-8 final.
