LeVin–Acuero Connection Stands Out Despite 4-2 Loss

Nampa, ID - Westminster dropped a hard-fought 4-2 decision at Northwest Nazarene on Thursday, Sept. 11, in a game filled with attacking momentum and standout individual performances. After conceding in the 19th minute to NNU's Kwame Kwakye, the Griffins found their rhythm in the second half. Zac LeVin leveled the match in the 60th minute off a feed from Jack Cardwell, and just eight minutes later George Acuero struck to give Westminster a 2-1 lead. The duo of LeVin and Acuero proved electric throughout the match, combining to create at least six dangerous goal-scoring opportunities. Time and again, however, NNU's goalkeeper produced highlight-reel saves to deny the Griffins from extending their advantage.

Despite Westminster's attacking efforts, NNU answered back quickly, tying the match in the 70th minute and surging ahead with goals in the 72nd and 87th minutes to put the game out of reach. LeVin and Acuero remained constant threats until the final whistle, but their best chances were turned away in decisive moments. Tommy Manwaring also stood tall in goal for Westminster, recording several important stops to keep his team in contention. The Griffins now turn their focus to their next match against Western Oregon University, who are coming off a 2-0 win over Colorado Mesa, setting the stage for another challenging road test.
