Salt Lake City, UT – Whenever Westminster and Colorado Mesa meet on Dumke Field, fans can expect a thriller—and Saturday's RMAC matchup was no exception. In a back-and-forth battle, the Griffins came up just short as Colorado Mesa edged out a 13-11 victory in Salt Lake City.
After taking down the Mavericks by one goal last season at home, the Griffins were looking to repeat that magic, and they nearly did. Camden Stanley led Westminster with 4 goals and 1 assist, while goalkeeper Christain Jones was phenomenal in the cage, tallying 19 saves to keep the Griffins in striking distance throughout.
Scoring Summary:
-
Camden Stanley – 4 goals, 1 assist
-
Sean Gragnola – 2 goals, 2 assists
-
Duke DeVault, Luke Sillstrop, Ridge Crouch, Jacob Mendez, and Sean Gragnola each added key goals
-
Camden Rossi, Cale Gunter, Harrison Edwards, Roman Nalder, and Pierce Dahl contributed assists
Westminster surged late in the fourth quarter with goals from Sillstrop, Crouch (man-up), and Stanley, cutting the deficit to two. However, Colorado Mesa capitalized on a man-up opportunity and added a pair of goals in the final minutes to secure the win.
Despite the result, the Griffins showed grit and determination in one of their strongest team efforts of the season.
