Salt Lake City, UT – The Westminster Griffins Women's Lacrosse team is gearing up for the RMAC Tournament Semi-Finals this Friday in Grand Junction, CO. Entering as the No. 4 seed, the Griffins will take on the top-seeded Colorado Mesa Mavericks in a high-stakes rematch that promises intensity and determination.
Westminster earned its postseason berth after closing the regular season with back-to-back road wins over CSU Pueblo and Fort Lewis.
This season, the Griffins' success has been driven by standout performances and a balanced roster where three players earned Second Team All-RMAC honors:
Jordan Williamson,
Marianna Dick and
Grace Szwedko, while
Olivia Petrosky,
Riley Weldon,
Madi Rogers, and
Gabriella Cheminant were named Honorable Mention All-RMAC.
The Griffins' semi-final matchup against Colorado Mesa is scheduled for Friday, April 25, at 4:00 PM on Community Hospital Unity Field and all RMAC Tournament games will be broadcast on the RMAC Network (PPV).
Season Highlights & Record-Setting Performances
Sophomore
Marianna Dick has emerged as one of the top defenders in NCAA Division II, breaking program records for career, single-season, and single-game caused turnovers. She leads the RMAC and ranks fifth nationally in caused turnovers per game. Dick's defensive dominance earned her multiple RMAC Defensive Player of the Week awards and national recognition from the IWLCA.
Graduate student and two-year captain
Riley Weldon has also anchored the defense. She shares the program's single game caused turnover record with Dick and ranks second in the RMAC and eighth nationally in the same category. Together, Dick and Weldon form one of the most disruptive defensive duos in the region.
On offense, sophomore
Jordan Williamson has shattered the program's single-season records for both goals (46) and points (52). She tied the single-game scoring mark with 10 goals in a win over Fort Lewis and is among the RMAC leaders in both goals and points per game.
Freshman midfielder
Grace Szwedko has made an immediate impact, breaking the program record for single-season draw controls with 68. She's also tallied 20 goals, providing energy and balance in the midfield.
Senior attacker
Celia Fidanza, a three-year captain, leads the team and the RMAC with 27 assists, setting new program records for single-season and career assists. Her vision and leadership have been crucial to Westminster's offensive success.
In goal, senior Ella Cheminant surpassed 300 career saves this season. She has started 12 games, recording a .400 save percentage. Sophomore
Kaelyn Hart has also made key contributions in the net, boasting a higher save percentage in nine appearances.
Freshman
Lexi Segaline closed the regular season with a breakout performance, where her efforts earned her RMAC Offensive Player of the Week honors. Meanwhile, sophomore
Olivia Petrosky has surged late in the year, scoring 18 of her 26 goals in the past seven games.
