Boulder City, Nev. — It was a memorable day on the course for the Westminster Women's Golf team, as freshman
Ashley Lam captured the individual title at the 2025 RMAC Women's Golf Championship, finishing with an impressive 3-day total of 8-under-par. Her stellar performance, paired with a strong second-place showing from teammate senior Kyra Sponeburgh, helped lead the Griffins to a shared second-place team finish, tying with Colorado Christian. The team was just three strokes behind the champions, Colorado State Pueblo.
Lam set the tone early, firing a 4-under-par opening round that featured seven birdies to vault to the top of the leaderboard. She maintained her lead through the second round, carding an even-par with 14 pars, two birdies, and two bogeys. In the final round, Lam delivered a composed finish, highlighted by three birdies on the back nine to secure the individual title.
"To be able to compete against all these great players especially those in my group who made it such a fun journey, and to have my coaches, teammates, and family watching and supporting I couldn't be more grateful," said Lam. "It was a great experience, and I'm excited about what's to come!"
Sponeburgh final tournament was a personal best, finishing second individually at 2-under-par. "It was such a fun way to end my college career and so validating to see my hard work pay off," Sponenburgh commented. She opened with three birdies in round one, added two more in round two, and climbed the leaderboard with a five-birdie performance in the final round. "I am so thankful for all of the support I had from my family, friends, teammates, and coaches. I'm so grateful to be a Griffin!"
Westminster's team depth was evident:
Isabel Wade finished 25th,
Madalyn Hadley placed 26th, and
Kindra Hirasuna came into the final round lineup posting a 78 for the Griffins. Remi Bleyl competed for the team in rounds 1 and 2.
"This championship was such a great experience. I'm so proud of our whole team and thrilled Ashley and Kyra had such amazing performances. Ashley left no doubt she is the best player in the RMAC and deserves a selection to compete at Regions," Director of Golf
