Salt Lake City, UT – In a game that saw 12 ties and 11 lead changes, the Westminster Men's Basketball team had multiple opportunities to upset No. 9 Colorado School of Mines, but ultimately fell 60-57 in a hard-fought RMAC contest at Behnken Field House.
The Griffins held Mines to just 38.5% shooting and nearly completed the upset, but late free throws and key defensive stops helped the Orediggers escape with the win.
Griffin Standouts:
- Simon Akena led Westminster with 16 points on 7-of-15 shooting, adding four rebounds.
- Donaval Avila contributed nine points and a game-high 10 rebounds while playing 31 minutes.
