Griffins Open Indoor Season in Record-Breaking Fashion at BYU

Provo, UT - The indoor track and field season opened with an impressive statement from the Griffins at the BYU indoor facility, as athletes delivered a combination of record-breaking performances, top-10 program marks, and strong depth across events. The meet marked an exceptional start to the year, highlighted by four school records and several performances that immediately placed the team among the region's early indoor contenders.

Men's Standouts

The men's squad was led by two standout performances that set the tone for the season. Jack Mulliner made a significant impact in the field events, breaking the school record in the long jump. His performance not only reset the program standard but also demonstrated high-level explosiveness early in the season, establishing him as a key scorer moving forward. On the track, Luca Alberts delivered one of the most notable performances of the meet by breaking the school record in the 600-yard run. Alberts' race showcased strong speed endurance and composure, setting a new benchmark for the program and positioning him as a major contributor in the middle-distance events throughout the indoor season. On the track, Mia McKay produced an outstanding run in the 600-yard event, breaking the school record with a composed and powerful performance. A Strong Start and What's Next

Overall, the season opener at BYU represented an exceptional start for the Griffins. Recording four school records in the first meet of the year, along with numerous top-10 program performances, signals both strong offseason preparation and significant potential for continued improvement as the season progresses. Following the holiday break, the Griffins will return to competition at the Weber State Invitational on January 9, where they will look to build on their early momentum, sharpen race execution, and continue pushing performances toward championship standards.
