DURANGO, Colo. – Westminster women's soccer came up just short on Sunday afternoon, falling 1–0 to Fort Lewis in RMAC play at Dirks Field.
After a scoreless first half, the Skyhawks (4-4-1, 1-2-0 RMAC) broke through in the 80th minute when Renee Junna converted a penalty kick for the lone goal of the match.
The Griffins (3-1-4, 0-1-3 RMAC) created plenty of offensive pressure, outshooting Fort Lewis 18–13 overall and 7–9 in shots on goal. Westminster also held a 5–4 edge in corner kicks but was unable to find the equalizer despite a strong second half that featured 13 shots.
Goalkeeper Marin Mackenzie made eight saves for the Griffins, while Fort Lewis' keeper finished with seven to earn the shutout. Westminster's Kim Hendrickson received a yellow card in the 80th minute.
The Griffins return home next weekend to continue RMAC play at Dumke Field.
