Griffins Holds #25 Regis to Scoreless Draw

Salt Lake City, Utah  — The Westminster Griffins women's soccer team battled to a 0-0 draw against nationally ranked #25 Regis University at Dumke Field. Despite the scoreless result, Westminster dominated in terms of offensive production, outshooting Regis 20-6 and putting 10 shots on goal compared to just 2 for the Rangers. The Griffins also earned six corner kicks while limiting Regis to one, consistently testing goalkeeper Helen Stegner, who made several key saves to preserve the shutout. While Westminster controlled possession and created multiple scoring chances, the team was unable to convert, leaving them disappointed with the outcome.

The Griffins' performance demonstrated resilience and composure against a top-tier opponent. Westminster repeatedly pressured Regis' defense and forced multiple saves, showing that the team can compete with nationally ranked programs. This draw marks Westminster's third consecutive tie and highlights the importance of finishing scoring opportunities in future contests.

Looking ahead, Westminster will continue RMAC play on the road, traveling to Alamosa, Colorado, to face Adams State University on Friday, October 17, at 3:00 PM at the ASU Soccer/Lacrosse Field. Two days later, the Griffins will head to Las Vegas, New Mexico, to take on New Mexico Highlands University on Sunday, October 19, at 1:00 PM. Fans can follow both matches through live stats on the Westminster Athletics site as the Griffins aim to translate their offensive dominance into victories in the upcoming conference match ups.
