Logan, UT – The Westminster University Men's and Women's Cross Country teams kicked off their 2024 season at the Utah State Alumni Challenge, held at the Steve and Dona Reeder Cross Country Course. Competing against strong programs, the Griffins faced tough competition and gained valuable experience to build upon as the season progresses.
Men's 7K Race Recap: The Westminster Men's team finished in 5th place overall, led by Mack Taylor who placed 52nd with a time of 24:07 and an average mile pace of 5:33. Elliot Vargas followed closely behind, finishing 54th with a time of 24:24. The Griffins accumulated a total of 149 points, rounding out a competitive race against several top-ranked programs including BYU, Utah State, and Weber State.

Women's 5K Race Recap: On the women's side, the team finished 3rd overall, led by a standout performance from Sophia Krzemien who placed 22nd with a time of 20:42, averaging 6:39 per mile. The Griffins fought hard against a dominant Utah State team but showed potential for the upcoming meets.
