Denver, CO – The Westminster Griffins Men's Soccer team took to the road Thursday night to face Metropolitan State University of Denver. After both teams found the back of the net in the first half, the Roadrunners struck quickly at the start of the second half, ultimately securing a 2-1 victory over the Griffins.
Jack Cardwell provided Westminster's only goal which was assisted by Gage Wood and Landon Ward, scoring just four minutes into the match. Despite a strong start, the Griffins were unable to hold off goals from Jackson Vander Ven and Cooper Landry, who capitalized on opportunities against Roark Looney. Looney played the full 90 minutes in goal, making three saves in the hard-fought defeat.
The Griffins will return to Salt Lake City for a quick turnaround, hosting Regis University on Sunday afternoon at 2:30 PM. Fans are encouraged to wear purple Griffins gear to show their support.
Tickets for Sunday's game on Dumke Field are available now at WestminsterGriffins.com, and those unable to attend can catch all the action live on the RMAC Network.
