Griffins Score 27 Goals In Victory

Pueblo, CO – In an exhilarating display of offensive scoring, the Westminster Griffins dominated the field on Friday night, securing a commanding 27-15 victory over the Thunderwolves. Merritt McMahon emerged as a standout player, with an impressive tally of seven goals in the victory.

The first half of the game witnessed a competitive exchange, with both teams netting a total of 10 goals. Despite the close margin, the Westminster Men's Lacrosse team managed to establish a solid lead of 7-3 by halftime.

The second half unfolded as a relentless onslaught of goals from both sides. The Thunderwolves made an early statement with a quick goal just 20 seconds into the third quarter. However, Westminster swiftly responded, with Daxton Jenson, McMahon, and Skyler Weathers spearheading a flurry of three consecutive goals in three minutes. This surge marked the onset of nine goals for the Griffins in the third quarter alone.

The intensity only escalated in the final quarter, with a staggering 18 goals scored collectively by both teams. Once again, the Griffins emerged victorious in this high-scoring battle, outpacing Colorado State University-Pueblo with an 11-7 goal margin.

Daxton Jenson was the second leading scorer with six goals, followed closely by Joe Celentano with four goals, and Skyler Weathers with three. Additionally, Jack Fairbanks showcased his dominance by winning 17 face-offs throughout the game.

Looking ahead, the Griffins are set to embark on their final road trip of the regular season, facing off against the Grizzlies of Adams State on Sunday at 11:00 A.M.
