Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Mavericks Edge Griffins in Overtime

Grand Junction, CO – A battle between two formidable lacrosse teams unfolded on Sunday afternoon in Colorado as the Westminster University Griffins squared off against Colorado Mesa University in a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference showdown. With both teams boasting strong histories in the RMAC, every encounter between them carries significant weight, and this game was no exception.

In a tense affair, the Griffins found themselves trailing by one goal late in regulation. However, Tate Craig stepped up and delivered a crucial game-tying goal, knotting the score at 12-12 and forcing the game into overtime. But it was CMU's Dillon Press who emerged as the hero, netting the game-winning goal in overtime to secure a 13-12 victory for the Mavericks.

Tate Craig and Jacob Mendez led the charge for the Griffins, each contributing three goals to the effort. Joseph Celentano and Camden Rossi added to the tally with two goals apiece, while Sean Gragnola and Luke Silstrop each chipped in with one goal.

With their sights set on their home turf, the Griffins now turn their attention to a crucial four-game homestand at Dumke Field, commencing with a showdown against Adams State University on Thursday at 7:00 PM.

Tickets for the homestand are available for purchase at WestminsterGriffins.com. For further updates on scheduling and other news about the rest of the season, stay tuned.
