Salt Lake City, UT – The Westminster Women's golf tournament, traditionally known as the Westminster Wasatch Invitational, has embarked on an exciting one-year partnership with the Big Sky Conference. This collaboration has resulted in a unique opportunity—a DI/DII cross-over tournament banquet where attendees will celebrate 50 years of Title IX in women's sports, Sunday evening, September 24
th at Glenmoor Golf Club in South Jordan Utah. The banquet will feature a keynote address from Andrea Williams, Chief Experience Officer for the Utah Jazz and former Big Sky Commissioner. Both divisions will be competing in separate 54-hole tournaments, Sept. 24
th - 26
th, at Talons Cove and Glenmoor Golf Club under the event name '54 for IX'.
These tournaments promise to be a thrilling showcase of talent. At Talons Cove 10 Big Sky Conference programs will compete, along with 4 other Division I programs. At Glenmoor the DII field will include 10 teams from the West Region and Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.
Speaking about the uniqueness of the event, Director of Golf
Denise Larson said, "It is rare that two NCAA tournaments are hosted at the same time, within such close proximity. I am pleased that the Big Sky Conference was receptive to the idea of combining our efforts and having student-athletes from both fields together to celebrate the impact Title IX has had on women's sports. The Sunday evening banquet at Glenmoor will be very special."
The tournaments will be open to the public, with walking admission being free. Those wishing to rent a cart from the pro shops may do so first come first serve.
Volunteers are needed at Glenmoor to help with live scores.
