St. Louis –
Merritt McMahon, evened the score up at 11 in the fourth, but with 25 seconds left to play
Clayton Cerett fired in the game-winning goal to send the Griffins back to Salt Lake City defeated as Maryville men's lacrosse 12-11 victory.
McMahon was the teams leading goal scorer with 5 total games,
Skyler Weathers and Luke Sillstrop each added two goals.
The Griffins had a chance to take the lead late in the fourth with just over two minutes to play, but a shot clock violation ended their chances and that's when the Saints capitalized on their game plan to capture the win over Westminster.
Westminster found themselves down three goals after the first quarter, but a strong second quarter saw a one-goal disadvantage as the teams went to their respective locker rooms.
UP NEXT: The Griffins will stay in St Louis as they will take on
Rockhurst University on Sunday morning at 10:00 MDT.
