Jannel Snow named Women's Lacrosse Coach

SALT LAKE CITY, UT – Westminster College Athletics is proud to announce the hire of Jannel Snow (Daufenbach) as the newest Westminster College Women's Lacrosse Head Coach as she brings Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference experience as she was the Assistant Women's Lacrosse Coach at Colorado State University-Pueblo.

"We appreciate the interest shown in Westminster College and this coaching opportunity as our search process included a number of quality candidates," said Director of Athletics Shay Wyatt. "We feel Coach Snow possesses the experience and qualities to build upon the work that has been done to further develop our NCAA II women's lacrosse program. Jannel shares our goals for this program and is excited to begin working with our women's lacrosse student-athletes. Our staff and I look forward to welcoming her and supporting her efforts."

Snow has taught in the classroom and on the field at both the H.S. and club levels, and when she was an assistant at CSU-Pueblo, she was a part of the coaching staff that saw the team finish their second-best winningest season ever.

"I am honored and excited to be a part of Westminster Athletics, and looking forward to our team's impact in the RMAC," said Snow.

Snow graduated from Mount St. Mary's University in Emmitsburg, Maryland, where she played four years of lacrosse at the Division I level and earned her degree in Secondary Education with a focus on Social Studies.

When she wasn't in the classroom, she was on the field, leading her team on the draw circle, becoming one of the Mount's most decorated draw specialists. She broke the school record for career total draw controls during her senior season, and over her four seasons, she collected 191 career draws.

"Jannel was impressive as both a DI player back east and as an assistant in the RMAC. Her knowledge of recruiting qualified DII student-athletes from our region is extremely important and will aid her in getting great talent to Westminster.," said Shelly Jarrard, Associate Athletics Director / Senior Woman Administrator. "Jannel has the lacrosse I.Q., DII recruiting experience, and personality we wanted for our program. The familiarity with the RMAC, and having played lacrosse at a high level collegiately makes her a great fit for us."

During her sophomore season, Snow earned a spot on the NEC's Second Team for her defensive presence. She started all 17 games in her sophomore season. Snow registered 50 draw controls and 11 ground balls on the year. In 2016, Snow ranked third in the conference with 2.94 draw controls per game.

Jannel played varsity lacrosse at Freedom High School in Virginia and Cheyenne Mountain High School in Colorado Springs. Snow scored more than 150 career goals in high school. She earned First Team All-Cedar Run Division in 2011 and All-League and All-Region in 2012. As a junior at Cheyenne Mountain, Snow was named Pikes Peak League Midfielder of the Year and All-Pikes Peak League. In 2014 Jannel was named Co-Player of the Year in Cedar Run District, and now she is turning her attention to a new chapter in Salt Lake City, UT.

"Lacrosse has given me countless opportunities, and I'm excited to pass on those opportunities to our Westminster community."
