Salt Lake City, UT --
Gabe Mein's four goals and 4-0 second period led the Griffins to captured their first home and conference win of the 2022 season as the Westminster Griffins (4-2, 1-1 RMAC) defeated CSU-Pueblo Thunderwolves (1-4, 0-1 RMAC) at home in a 10-6 win.
It was a battle to start the game as the Griffins held a one goal lead heading into the second period of action. Mein,
Easton Albert,
Spencer Whinery and
Joseph Celentano all added a goal each in the period and their defense held the Thunderwolves scoreless heading into halftime with a lead of 6-1 after 30 minutes of action.
Westminster was outscored in the second half of action 5-4, but it wasn't enough for the Thunderwolves to get back into the game as the Griffins found a way to answer each goal that CSU-P added to the scoreboard to secure their first conference win.
Quin Lewis,
Kade Oswin and
Dylan Brauer all added a goal of their own in the victory.
Next up the Griffins hit the road for back to back games with Belmont Abbey College and University of Mount Olive before returning back to Westmisnter College on April, 10 when they face off with Adams State University.
