Westminster women's lacrosse (1-2, 1-1 RMAC) fell, 19-8, at Rockhurst University (2-2) on Friday.
Westminster was held scoreless for the first half as Rockhurst opened up an 8-0 lead after four goals in each of the first two quarters. The Griffins were unable to create any momentum towards the Rockhurst goal to begin the game and finished with just three first-half shots.
The Griffins stole momentum back early in the second half with the help of a
Celia Fidanza 40 seconds into the third quarter. Westminster scored four of the first six goals of the half and outscored Rockhurst 7-6 in the third period. The Griffins finished with a 10-7 advantage in third-quarter shots and 8-6 edge in draw controls.
Owning a seven-goal lead to begin the final quarter, Rockhurst owned possession and outscored Westminster 5-1 in the final quarter to finish off the home win.
The Griffins will stay in Missouri to take on Missouri Western State on Sunday beginning at 12 p.m. (MDT).
