LITCHFIELD PARK, Ariz.—The Westminster College women's golf team holds an 11 stroke lead at the completion of day one at the SMSU Spring Invitational. The Griffins finished with four in the top-10.

The team is second on par 3s (+15), and first on par 4s (+15) and par 5s (+3). The team is tied with Wayne State College for most birdies (8) in the round and just one par behind Colorado Mesa who leads in par scoring with 47.

Whitney Banz is in the lead shooting par-71. She scored four birdies and three pars on the front nine, and one birdie and six pars on the back nine. Banz is first on par 3s (-2), tied fifth on par 4s (+3) along with teammates Jobi Einerson, Kanna Crosland, and Cassie Campos, and tied first on par 5s (-1) with Campos.

Campos shot 5-over-76 and is tied third with Crystals Querol of Colorado Mesa. Campos scored her lone birdie on the front nine with six pars and finished with six pars on the back nine. Campos is tied eighth on par 3 scoring (+3).

Cailyn Clayton and teammate Katelyn Day are tied eighth with Kennedy Kano of Chadron State  with a score of 8-over-79. Clayton shot birdie once and par three times on the front nine and par six times on the back nine. Day shot par three times with one birdie on the front nine and par five times on the back nine.

Crosland is tied 11th (+9), Tuesday Epperson is tied 15th (+11), Jobi Einerson is tied 17th (+12) and Megan VanLeeuwan is 43rd (+20).

The Griffins are golfing in two groups with the first group teeing off at 9:12 am Tuesday.
