Men's Lacrosse Fall To Lake Erie College

PAINESVILLE, Ohio—The men's lacrosse team has played four games this season, all on the road. The Griffins (2-2, 0-0 RMAC) lost, 9-10, in a close game against the Lake Erie College  Storm.
 
Westminster took 40 shots, 24 on goal, picked up 35 ground balls and caused seven turnovers. Lake Erie College took 41 shots, 28 on goal, picked up 42 ground balls and caused 16 turnovers. Lake Erie College won the faceoff battle winning 17 to Westminster's five.                           
 
Lake Erie College led 3-2 at the end of the first period. Westminster led twice with goals from Dylan Brauer and Merritt McMahon. Brauer scored the game's opening goal and McMahon scored with a little under three minutes left in the period.
 
Will Dutton and Max Duxbury assisted Mike Spaeth and McMahon who gave the Griffins the lead,4-3, in the second period. The Storm got started with a man-up goal and scored two more to finish the half leading by two, 4-6.
 
The Griffins tied the game three times in the final two periods but were unable to regain the lead. McMahon completed a hat-trick with a man-up goal a few minutes into the third period. Keagan Jones scored his first Westminster goal to tie the game at 6.
 
Brauer completed his hat-trick with two in a row at the start of the fourth, tying the game at eight. He scored a third in the fourth to tie the game at nine with three minutes left. The Storm scored with five seconds left to win the game.
 
Brauer scored four goals and had one assist to lead the team with five points. Brauer took eight shots with seven on goal. McMahon also had eight shots, five on goal, and scored three goals.
 
Kyle Williams led the team with four ground balls. Six Griffins each had three ground balls. Gavin Beilman faced 41 shots and made 17 saves.
 
Kindall Dawson recorded five goals to lead the Storm. Tyler Manning led the Storm with nine ground balls, and six caused Turnovers. Lake Erie College goalie Lincoln Porter made 14 saves.
 
The Griffins' road trip continues with Mercyhurst tomorrow night, Sat. Mar. 27, at 5 pm MST.
