SALT LAKE CITY - Westminster men's and women's indoor track and field teams began the 2021-22 indoor competition schedule at the two-day BYU Invite on Thursday and Friday in the BYU-Smith Fieldhouse.

Josii Johnson caputured a third-place finish in the women's mile with a 5:28.77 in the first race of the winter while Emily Worline finished fourth in the event at 5:33.01.  Courtney McAlindon finished sixth in the women's 3000-meter at 10:50.44.

Madison hit a mark of 10.12 in the women's triple jump, the best finish at the event and Zack Stanton (12.77) and Max Mertz (11.47) also recorded their first jumps of the season in the men's triple jump.

The Griffins were the only team to record a time in the coed 4X320 and clocked a 2:59.15 in their first race of the season.  Emily Malouf, the lone thrower for Westminster, got her season going with a 10.48 (10th-place) in the shot put and 37.62 in the women's discuss (12th-place).
