BOCA RATON, Flor.—Westminster men's lacrosse (3-4, 2-0 RMAC) holds on for its first road win of the season, defeating Lynn University, 14-11.
The Griffins went on a seven-goal run after falling behind by four points.
Spencer Whinery got the Griffins on the board with just 49 seconds left in the first period. Second period goals from
Gabe Mein,
Mike Spaeth,
Merritt McMahon, Dillon Brauer and
Will Dutton put the Griffins in the lead, 6-4, at halftime.
Westminster made a 4-1 run in the third period to take a five-point lead into the fourth.
With 5:48 left, Xander Cozenza scored three goals to lead Lynn on a 4-1 run, in just two and a half minutes, cutting Westminster's lead to two, 13-11.
Blake Gross scored the game's final goal for a three-point lead, 14-11.
Spencer Whinery led the Griffins with sex points from three goals and three assists. Whinery finished with five shots and four on goal.
Gabe Mein had four points from one goal and three assists.

Sean Edwards and the defense held the Fighting Knights scoreless for 26 minutes straight after falling behind 4-0 in the first period. Edwards made five of his 10 saves and the Griffins held Lynn to just 10 shots in that time period.
