MELBOURNE, Fla.—Four wins in a row for the Westminster men's lacrosse as they defeat the Florida Tech Panthers, 15-12.
After a close first period,
Jake Auger completed a hat-trick in the second period as Westminster outscored Florida Tech, 6-2, for a five-point lead, 9-4, at the half.
The Griffins took their largest lead of the game, seven points, with three straight goals after the Panthers opened with a quick goal just 14 seconds into the second half.
Gabe Mein was involved with all three goals, assisting the first and scoring the second and third on man-up opportunities.
Florida Tech outscored Westminster 6-2 and nearly came back in the fourth period but they were unable to make up the difference from
Spencer Whinery's game winning goal that closed the third period.
Gabe Mein scored his third hat-trick of the season and assisted twice to lead the Griffins with five points from seven shots with five on goal.
Auger was second on the team with three points from his first half hat-trick, second of the season. Whinery,
Jacob Taylor, and
Mike Spaeth scored twice, and
Nick Marcy assisted twice for two points each.
Andrew Thomas,
Merritt McMahon and
Ian Nadel each scored a single goal.

Sean Edwards faced 50 shots and made 14 saves recording a season high save percentage (.538).
The Griffins return home without playing their final game at Palm Beach Atlantic, which was canceled in precaution of the developing COVID-19 situation.
