SALT LAKE CITY – Third-seeded Westminster women's basketball will host sixth-seeded South Dakota Mines in the first round of the RMAC Tournament on Tuesday, March 3 at Behnken Field House.
The Griffins (22-6, 17-5 RMAC) finished the regular season with five straight victories and are led in scoring by
Hunter Krebs at 15.7 points per game and
Mariah Martin at 15.6 points per game. Martin leads the team in assists at four per game.
Sarah McGinley adds 13.1 points per game and six rebounds, and
Kaitlin Toluono leads the team with 8.4 rebounds per game to go with 9.5 points.
The Hardrockers (15-11, 13-9 RMAC) have lost two of their last three, but have won 10 of their last 12 including a nine-game winning streak after starting conference play 3-7. Ryan Weiss leads South Dakota Mines with 17.2 points per game, second-most in the conference. She leads the RMAC with 96 three-point field goals on 48.2 percent shooting from beyond the arc. Anna Haugan is averaging nearly a double-double with 10.8 points and 9.9 rebounds per game, and Sami Steffack is adding 10 points per game. Â
Westminster beat South Dakota Mines, 70-57, in Salt Lake City in the two teams' lone matchup during the regular season.
If the Griffins advance, they will either host seventh-seeded Dixie State or face second-seeded Western Colorado on the road depending on the outcome of the first-round matchup between the Trailblazers and the Mountaineers.
Tuesday's quarterfinal matchup between the Griffins and Hardrockers will tip off at 7 p.m. and will be
