GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.—Colorado Mesa led from the opening basket to defeat Westminster's men's basketball, 75-61, bringing an end to the Griffins' five-game win streak.
Westminster came within two at the 14-minute mark after a basket from
Jai Jai Ely and a three from
Brandon Warr. The Mavericks slowly increased their lead to 11 to finish the half.
The Griffins shot 59.09 percent from the field and 50 percent from three in the second half but were unable to catch the Mavericks who went 63.16 percent from the field and 58.33 from three.
Brandon Warr shot 4-9 from three, 7-15 from the field and 2-3 from the stripe to lead all scorers with 20 points. He led the Griffins with eight rebounds.
Jake Connor scored three threes on his way to 14 points and
Alec Monson scored 10.
The Griffins finish the weekend at Western Colorado in Gunnison, Colo., at Paul Wright Gym. The game will be streamed live at 7 pm on the RMAC Network.
