HICKORY, N.C.—Westminster and Lenoir-Rhynes men's lacrosse teams met for the first time Friday evening. The Griffins were defeated, 17-8, by the #17 Bears.
Eight Griffins were involved in goals.
Spencer Whinery,
Nick Marcy and
Jake Auger each scored a brace.
Quinn Lewis scored, and
Will Dutton recorded his first goal of the season.
Jacob Taylor,
Andrew Thomas,
Mike Spaeth and Marcy recorded assists on five of the eight goals.
Sean Edwards and
Jordan Penn split time in the net. Edwards made seven saves in just over 32 minutes and Penn came up with seven saves in 27 minutes of action.
Harrison Nye and
Chance Beutler led the defensive side with five ground balls each. Beutler won 4-11 face offs. Nye caused five turnovers.
