WBB Preview: Road Game At CSU Pueblo

SALT LAKE CITY—The Westminster women's basketball team are on the road for their second game of the season. The Griffins play CSU-Pueblo on Friday, 12/18, at 5:30 pm.
 
After three straight game postponements/cancellations, the Griffins stepped on the court against Black Hills State. The Yellow Jackets made 17-37 threes to beat the Griffins, 71-68. Westminster ended the night with 30 points in the paint, 17 off the bench and shooting 56.5% from the field and 57.1% from three.

GRIFFINS (0-1, 0-1 RMAC)
  • Third in the RMAC Preseason Coaches' Poll and sixth in the D2SIDA South Central Preseason Regional Rankings.
  • Westminster has played just one game out of four scheduled. The lone game was a loss at Black Hills State, 68-71.
  • The Griffins shot 56.5% from the field and made 8 threes finishing 57.1% from beyond the arc. Sarah McGinley scored 23 points to lead the Griffins. Lyndzi Rich was second on the team with 17
  • In conference the Griffins are first in field and three point percentage, shooting 56.5% and 57.1% respectively. They are fifth offensively, averaging 68 points per game, and 10th defensively, allowing 71.
  • McGinley leads the team in rebounding, grabbing nine rebounds per game. Hunter Krebs and Mariah Martin have eight and Kaylee Carlsen has six rebounds per game.
THUNDERWOLVES (0-1, 0-1 RMAC)
  • 10th in the RMAC Preseason Coaches' Poll
  • Like the Griffins, the Thunderwolves enter this weekend with only one game played, a loss at Adams State on Dec. 10, 61-62
  • JaNaiya Davis is the Packs leading scorer, averaging 21 points and shooting 66.7% from the field and seven assists.
  • Davis leads the team in rebounding with nine rebounds per game. She is followed closely by Sydni Williams and Jazzy Hughes with eight rebounds per game and Aubriana Noti with seven.
  • Pueblo is third in the RMAC defensively, allowing 62 points per game, and 10th offensively, scoring 61.
