SALT LAKE CITY - Westminster men's basketball lost 63-53 to the University of Colorado Colorado Springs on Saturday night at Behken FIeld House.
The Griffins stayed within striking distance during the first half and trailed by just two at the break, Westminster tied the game at 34-34 three minutes into the second half, but UCCS responded with eight straight points as part of an 18-4 run to take their largest lead of the game at 52-38. The Griffins got as close as seven, but the Mountain Lions held off every Westminster charge.
Joonas Tahvanainen led the Griffins with 13 points.
Alec Monson added 12 points, and
Brandon Warr finished with 11 points and seven rebounds.
Aijah Comithier led four Mountain Lions in double figures with 13 points.
The Griffins will play on the road next weekend, taking on Chadron State and MSU Denver. Both games will be streamed on the
RMAC Network.
