SALT LAKE CITY – The top three teams in the RMAC will be in Salt Lake City this weekend, as No. 15 Westminster women's basketball plays host to third-place Western Colorado on Friday, Jan. 24 and to first-place Colorado Mesa on Saturday, Jan. 24.
The Griffins (15-2, 10-1 RMAC) sit in second place in the conference and have won five straight. Westminster is led by the high-scoring trio of
Mariah Martin,
Hunter Krebs and
Sarah McGinley. Martin leads the team in scoring and assists at 16.6. points and 4.3 assists per game. Krebs is averaging 16 points per game, and McGinley contributes 15 points and 7 rebounds per game. All three are within the top eight in the RMAC in scoring.
Kaitlin Toluono leads the team at 7.9 rebounds and adds a 8.2 points per game.
Western (11-4, 9-2 RMAC) has won five straight, the last four by double digits. Hannah Cooper leads a balanced attack at 10.1 points per game. Samantha Coleman adds 9.9 points and Gabie Doud contributes 9.7 points per game.
No. 22 Colorado Mesa (15-2, 11-0 RMAC) has won 13 straight, including their last two non-conference games and all 11 conference contests. The Mavericks are led by Daniella Turner's 15.2 points per game. This game matches Westminster's conference-leading offense at 69.8 points per game and Colorado Mesa's number one defense, as the Mavericks are giving up just 45.5. points per game.
