SALT LAKE CITY – Westminster women's volleyball lost in its home opener to South Dakota School of Mines and Technology, 3-1 (25-20, 19-25, 18-25, 23-25) on Friday night at Behnken Field House.
"We had a stellar serving match," Westminster head coach
Karrin Moore said. "Lydia (Miller) and Hanna (Stearman) each played really well for us. We really struggled to stop (Dana Thompson), she had a great night for them. We're looking to bounce back tomorrow against Black Hills State."
Miller led the Griffins with 18 kills, and
Aggie Roese-Olsen and
Katie Jacox had 19 and 15 assists, respectively. Stearman and
Jaylee Lehenbauer had 17 digs apiece.
Thompson ended the match with 21 kills for the Hardrockers, and Victoria Zagorski had four blocks to spark the defense.
The Griffins finish their home-opening weekend tomorrow against Black Hills State at 4 pm. The match will be
