One Win To Clinch RMAC Championship First Round Spot

Women's lacrosse are on the hunt for a spot in the conference tournament. One win with two games left is all it will take

The regular season is nearing an end for women's lacrosse who are sixth in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) and have a chance to make it to the first round of the RMAC Championship.

The top six teams in the RMAC standings qualify for the conference tournament.  First and second place have byes in the first round while third and fourth host the sixth and fifth place teams respectively.

The Griffins have two games remaining.  The first is a rescheduled game against Adams State (0-11, 0-7 RMAC), which is being played in Grand Junction, Colo., at Colorado Mesa University.  The final game is home against No. 4 Regis (15-0, 8-0 RMAC) on Saturday.

Westminster is one spot ahead of CSU-Pueblo (5-8, 2-5) who have games against Oklahoma Baptist (5-7, 1-6 RMAC) and Adams State.  The highest CSUP can finish is a 4-5 RMAC record.  Westminster's top finish would be 5-4.

The Griffins clinch a tournament spot if they finish with a better record or finish tied in the conference standings.

Westminster would finish with a better record if it won both of its games or the Thunderwolves loss both of their games.  A better record is guaranteed if both teams finish 1-1.

Westminster would finish tied if it loses both games and CSUP wins one, or CSUP wins two and Westminster wins one.  A tie favors the Griffins who would advance on a head-to-head tie-breaker, having defeated CSUP earlier in the season.

CSUP can only advance ahead of the Griffins if it wins both games and the Griffins lose both.
