Gonzalez And Toluono Named To All-Tournament Team

Griffins finish as finalists in RMAC tournaments

Box Score GRAND JUNCTIONS, Colo.—A tough night for the Griffins as they make their first appearance in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) Championship Final.  RMAC play of the Year, Jaylyn Duran, carried the load for the Mavericks to win, 67-50.
 
Both teams began the game slow offensively.  Westminster shot 18.2 percent from the field going 0-4 from beyond the arc and 2-2 from the free-throw line.  The Mavericks shot 31.3 percent from the field and made 1-3 from three and went 2-2 from the stripe for a first quarter lead, 11-6.
 
Sicilee Williams and Kaitlin Toluono both hit threes and Hunter Krebs converted on a two and one for a 9-2 run to start the second quarter and tie the game, 15-15.  Colorado Mesa finished the half outscoring Westminster 14-6 and leading by eight.
 
Westminster was unable to mount a comeback in the third or fourth quarter and finished as finalists, losing 67-50, to the Mavericks.

Denise Gonzalez and Toluono were named to the RMAC/Under Armour Women's Basketball All-Tournament Team.
 
Toluono and Olivia Elliss were the team's leading scorers with 12 points.  Gonzalez scored eight, Williams scored six and Krebs had five.  Rian Rawlings scored three and Kaylee Carlsen and Hillary Weixler both scored two.
 
Toluono led the team with five rebounds.  Calrsen and Rawlings each had three.  Williams, Gonzalez, Krebs and Elliss grabbed two each.
 
The Griffins finished 10-3 at home, 9-4 away and 2-0 at neutral sites.  They finished the season 17-5 in the RMAC and 21-7 overall.
