St. Charles, Mo.--Westminster's men's lacrosse (3-5) were unable to come back after falling behind by four points in the second period at #15 Lindenwood (8-3).
The Griffins got off to a good start, scoring the first two goals in the opening four minutes.Â
Cole Flinders struck just 45 seconds in. Two and a half minutes later,
Jacob Taylor put the ball past the Lions' goalie for a 2-0 lead.
Lindenwood turned up the heat and outscored the Griffins 9-3 to finish the half with a 4-point lead, 9-5.
The Griffins won the battle of the second half, 4-4, with a pair of goals from
Kolton Atkinson and a pair from
Blake Gross. The Griffins still trailed by three, 15-9, as the game came to an end.
We came out of the gate quickly with goals in our first two possession," Head Coach
Mason Goodhand said. "Lindenwood won the first half ground ball and faceoff war to sing the momentum back their way."

Phil Cannell jumped in the cage and gave us a bit of a lift in the second half. Freshman
Mitchell Senour started winning a few face offs at the X."
Sean Edwards and
Phil Cannell split time in the goal, each playing 30 minutes. Edwards made nine first half saves, seven in the first period, and Cannell made four saves to hold the home side to three second half goals.
Mithell Senour won 10-25 faceoffs and led the team with six ground balls. He scored one goal on two shots.
Gross, Atkinson and Flinders led the team offensively with two points each. Gross and Atkinson scored a pair of goals each. Flinders scored the game's opening goal and assisted one in the fourth period.
Chase Flinders caused three turnovers and Edwards caused one.Â
Harrison Nye picked up four ground balls. grant Phillips and
Kyle Williams each had three ground balls and a caused turnover and
Phil Cannell picked up three ground balls.
The Griffins finish the weekend against Rkchurst on Sunday.
